Judge Redmond Barry was the man who convicted several of the Kelly clan.
He will always be remembered as the man who sentenced Ned to death.

He was born in in Ireland in 1813 and died in 1880 a few days after Ned was executed.

He locked up Mrs. Kelly for three years and sentenced Ned Kelly to death.

Barry was a graduate of Trinity College, Dublin, he arrived in Port Phillip as a barrister
in 1839.

Redmond Barry was the founder of several Victorian institutions including The State
Library of Victoria, The University of Melbourne and the Melbourne Hospital, among
other institutions.

Like many in the Kelly story on the 'other' side, Barry was a member of The Melbourne Club.
