Update 04 October 2008.

Hello Dave,

I am interested in the Kelly story and would appreciate knowing where the graves of Dan Kelly & Steve Hart
would be so I can pay my respects. I have read that the graves are in Greta but do not know where exactly
I have to go. Can you help me please Dave.

Cheers Robbie Jones.

G'day Robbie,
I do have some idea where the graves are at the Greta Cemetery but have always had a policy of not giving
directions. I am happy to say which cemetery most players in the story are today but would prefer not to
give specifics sorry.

Regards Dave.

Hi,

while doing some family history research I came upon your Glenrowan 1880 sight and read a comment from
Tina McCarthy wanting to know if she was a distant relative of Stephen Hart of the Kelly gang.

Like Tina I am a descendant of Patrick and Sarah Hart of the Trentham district and I would love to contact her in
the hope that we can fill in some twigs on the family tree. Sarah and Patrick did have a daughter who married a
McCarthy so perhaps Tina is a descendent of this daughter.

Perhaps you could pass on my name and e-mail address to her and she can contact me if she is still interested.

As to whether we are related to Stephen Hart of the Kelly Gang, I wont be able to enlighten her but she might already have
that information.

Cheers,

Joan Cathie

Thanks Joan, if anyone wishes to make contact please e-mail me to be put in touch. Dave.

Dear Dave, I would like to express thanks to Dr. Brian Stevenson for
his very kind words about me and my MEN OF IRON, MEN OF WAX article.
His gushing terms made me blush! What a way with words he has!
Also I would like to thank him for the reminder of the tidbit about
the figure of Aaron Sherritt being in the Melbourne Waxworks. Had
forgotten about that!

Of course, Brian and I are very good friends and are in regular touch,
but I just wanted to thank him publically and to say that I have done
an addendum to my article and have included even more information
concerning Kreitmayer's and Cristofani's waxworks which I have gleaned
from an exciting new source.

Remember how I found the Papers Past historical New Zealand newspapers
archive while surfing around? And how Glenrowan1880 was the first
among Kelly sites to tout it? Well, here is another first...the
National Library of Australia has finally launched a Beta site of
their Australian Newspapers Digitisation Project! I have waited years
for this!!

The public launch is scheduled for 2009 but for now visitors can go in
and search for historic articles in their database. Currently there
are only a few hundred returns for "Ned Kelly" and "Kelly Gang" but in
the future they hope to have millions more pages added (and thus many
more Kelly articles from Australian papers). I plan to keep a close
watch on this resource!

Here is the link:

Cheers Sharon Hollingsworth.

Great resource there Sharon, won't be long before that link is on every Kelly site!

...........................................................................................................

Once again, Sharon Hollingsworth has proved that the tyranny of distance can be beaten,
and has put together a fascinating article from many disparate sources on a little known
facet of the oft told Kelly story. Is there no rock under which this absolute jewel of an
indefatigable researcher will not look? A great article, Sharon, and as is your custom, you
have gone way beyond the usual sources in your endless quest for extra grains of knowledge,
which you so generously share.

I do remember something about someone seeing a rendition of Aaron in the waxworks and
telling his latter day family, possibly in The Fatal Friendship. If my recollection is correct, it
could be worthwhile incorporating this into a later edition of the article. But this minor, and
hopefully constructive codicil does not alter the fact that Sharon has contributed an article
of deep interest and value to this website, and deserves every possible accolade for her work,
and her unselfish sharing of it.

Brian Stevenson.

Thanks Brian,
there is no doubt that Sharon is an asset to both of my Kelly sites.
What she can find with her limited access has always amazed readers.
The article she has written to go with her View From Abroad articles
about the waxworks will no doubt include bits that not even the so called
experts knew!

Regards Dave.

Hi

I have been fascinated reading your web site>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
I had looked up the name Constable Lonergan, as my partner [who is 89]
remembers his aunty Ivy Lonergan , but does not remember whether she
was his wife or sister. >>>>>>>>>>>>Do you know what his Christian name
was? / ? ?

We have been to Glenrowan several times and have been impressed with
the area. I look forward to revisiting and seeing any “improvements”>>>>>>>>>
not to mention those pies

What is my name ? ? ?

Ann Jones ! ! ! !
Or it was before I was married.

Thanks for writing in Ann,
what an interesting coincidence with your name!
Thomas Lonergan or Lonigan, wonder if he was a relation.
The new signs and digging works has made the town much
more interesting indeed.
