RELICS

Home

Mr T. Ferry has just received some curiosities in connection with the
Glenrowen tragedy, and the destruction of the Kelly gang. They
comprise a piece of the tree against which Ned Kelly fell wounded, and
which is now almost cut to pieces by persons desirous of securing some
relic in connection with the outlawed bushranger. There is also a
piece of timber from the Glenrowen Hotel, which was set on fire for
the dislodgement of the gang taking refuge there, and two bullets
picked up in the ruins, one of which had not been fired, while the
other is battered quite flat, and was probably fired by the attacking
party. Mr Ferry has also a piece of molten glass, evidently belonging
to a tumbler, and two gun wads which were also found in the vicinity.
The articles are genuine, and there is a certain air of romance
attaching to them as they recall to mind the terrible history of the
Kelly gang.

RELICS OF THE VICTORIAN KELLY SITES.

What could this be? It was found many years ago around the area where Ned fell at Glenrowan.

This relic 'could' be a part of the decoy still, it was found in the area Ned described having a decoy still.

Ned and Steve tried to lift the rails at Glenrowan by themselves before obtaining the services of the platelayers.
This item appears to be a tool capable of removing 'dog spikes' from the rails. It has been broken and looks to be made of cast iron.
It was found in the 1990's not far from the area where the rails were lifted.

If you have a 'relic' at home related to the Kelly story please feel free to send an image in.
