Recently, I was walking past the Melbourne airport bookshop and out of
the corner of my eye I spotted a book cover
that had a cool looking convict illustration on it. It was called
"YOU'RE HISTORY, MATE!"
I was already looking through the pages before I
realised that the author was Paul Stafford who not only
wrote NED KELLY'S HELMET, but also a pile of other great kids books.
Also credited on the cover is illustrator Shane Nagle, who does a
superb job of bringing all the characters and events to life!
One flick through and I just knew I had to get a copy! All the Aussie
characters were in there, Ned Kelly of course, Burke & Wills,
William Buckley and heaps more.
Amazingly this paperback was priced at just $14.95! Great value.

Normally I would only be promoting books about Ned here, however, even
with just one chapter on Ned I just had to let my my readers how good this
book is and that I recommend it highly.

I reckon Paul Stafford is one of our best Aussie writers with the
knack of getting kids to read.
Paul has a goal, to get kids reading and what better way than with
cool stories of our history.
He did it in superb style with NED KELLY'S HELMET and now with YOU'RE
HISTORY, MATE! he continues on the tradition.

Paul runs The Dead Bones Society, specialising in increasing literacy
amongst reluctant young male readers, I reckon he has that job well
and truly sorted, too.

Paul lives and works in Bathurst N.S.W., he reminds me a lot of Dave
Brown over in W.A., both real good Australians who love the country
and are full of life.

So get down to your local bookshop and grab a copy, you won't be disappointed.
